From the moment you slip these on, you get the feeling they were designed by outdoorsy people for outdoorsy people—those of us who like to scramble up rocky trails, paddle into golden sunsets, and maybe grab tacos on the way home (without looking like we just rolled out of a gear bin).
Design & Functionality
What stands out immediately is how intentional everything feels. The cut is athletic but not restrictive, and the gusseted crotch plus just-right inseam length gives you full range of motion—whether you’re bouldering, biking, or wrangling your cooler at the campsite. Multiple pockets are placed where they actually make sense (looking at you, awkward-back-pocket designers), with thoughtful zippers and angles that work with your movement rather than against it.
Fabric
This is where the Shenanigan really earns its keep. The fabric is lightweight, breathable, and has just enough stretch to keep up with whatever shenanigans you throw at it (hence the name, I presume). It wicks moisture like a champ, dries quickly, and doesn’t cling in humid conditions—basically, it’s the unicorn of outdoor fabrics.

Belt System
Oh, the belt system. Chef’s kiss. Ketl ditched the floppy loops and awkward bulk in favor of a sleek, integrated webbing belt that cinches perfectly and stays put without digging in. It’s minimalist, functional, and disappears under a pack’s hip. I’m not a big fan of belts and was expecting to hate this one, but it ended up being one of my favorite features. Honestly, it’s one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have it—and then you’ll never go back.
Warranty
Rounding out the package is Ketl’s killer warranty—if you ever damage any of your apparel, they’ll repair it for free, for life. That level of commitment to making gear that will last a lifetime, while reducing waste, is refreshing and not something you typical see in this industry.
Final Thoughts
Whether you’re summiting peaks, chasing waterfalls, or just making a run to the brewery after a trail ride, the Shenanigan Short keeps up without complaint—and looks damn good doing it. They’re technical without being nerdy, stylish without trying too hard, and built to last.
Pros:
Cons:
Bottom line: If you’re in the market for an all-in-one, do-anything, adventure-ready short that blends brains, brawn, and a little bit of mischievous charm… this is the one. Shenanigans encouraged.
